The Royal Canadian Mint has created a design that practically leaps off the reverse field of one of its coins for the first time ever with the release of the 2017 1 oz proof Canadian silver 3D Breaching Whale Coin.
This humpback whale portrayal by Matt Bowen mixes the beauty of nature, colorization, and 3D finish into one product.
The design of a humpback whale launching itself up out of the frigid waters off the coast of Canada can be found on the reverse face of the Breaching Whale Coin.
The whale is seen leaping into the air with its back arching, and the water where it breaches has a magnificent icy blue colorization.
But that isn't what makes this coin unique. When viewed from the side, the picture of a humpback whale breaching the water's surface virtually pops up from the surface of the coin.
The Royal Canadian Mint achieved this feat by combining distinctive printing and embossing to give this coin an unmatched level of depth.
The portrait of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse of the 2017 1 oz proof Canadian silver 3D Breaching Whale Coin.
