The coin, shaped like a ring of circles, features various game-related designs. They represent, in order from the top, cards, dominoes, a spinning dice, chess, snakes and ladders, terni lapilli, mahjong, draughts (or checkers), knucklebones, backgammon, and dice.
The 'P' mintmark of The Perth Mint appears on the reverse, along with a decorative pattern.
The 'three-in-a-row' challenge known as tic tac toe is thought to have evolved from the ancient Roman game terni lapilli, which is represented by the 24-carat plated stainless steel insert at the coin's center (three pebbles).
