The coin depicts the myth of Zeus falling in love with Europa: Zeus fell in love with Europa while watching her on a beach with her maids, with whom he was picking flowers, and in order to have her, he ordered Hermes to drive Europa's father's oxen to that beach.
Then he transformed into a white bull and approached her, lying down at her feet.
The coin's reverse depicts a magnificent image of Europe, the epitome of the classical Greek and Roman ideal of female form and beauty. Wonderful floral decorations and a starfish in the center on the obverse.
On the obverse, the inscription "REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN" – the issuing country – appears all around.
